Lleida is a very large region. The territory has always been, then, under the influence of Lleida, a city Iberian, Roman town and center of a major Muslim Taifa, that the Christian (1149) divided the counties of Barcelona and Urgell and other church ladies and gentlemen.
Lleida, protected by sovereign Catalans, became his bishopric of an extensive and the first university (General Studies) in Catalonia, the strategic importance of which has to participate in all conflicts and events in the history of the country.
