FOOD

FRUIT

Lleida is the capital of the fruit: apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums and cherries, are part of the culture and economy of the province. The fair of San Miguel, which is celebrated with the arrival of autumn is a clear example of its importance, it is a fruit of the Week Gastronómica in which outlines the many applications that have the fruit in the kitchen.


MEAT

Lleida is a land of meat. Farm chicken, rabbit, duck, turkey and pork in particular, supplying a large part of our country. Also present were other species such as goat or lamb, used to compile the most popular roasts. In hunting season, you can also taste the flesh of wild boar, deer, deer ... meat usually consumed on the grill, but also dishes that highlight the excellent oil from the region of Les Garrigues, subject to Designation of Origin.




MUSHROOMS AND SWEET

Another pillar in food Lleida are mushrooms, which can be found in different varieties: rovellons, llenegues, ous of reig, sureny, rabassola, etc. .. which are available in variety of dishes, alone, with meat, vegetables ... and are always appreciated. Very interesting panadons, made with spinach, pine nuts and raisins, or the coca recapte of escalivada, with a garnish of peppers and the wide variety of pots cigrons (chickpeas), the poti-poti mongetes and lentils with quail.

A very traditional food in Lleida are snails "cargols a la llauna"
